COMPANIES THAT MAKE THINGS

GIFTS THAT LAND

Why a handmade gift says more about your brand than a generic one

The typical corporate gift has travelled a long way before reaching your hands. It was mass-produced in a distant factory, stamped with a logo at the end of the process, and arrived on a pallet alongside ten thousand identical ones carrying ten thousand different logos.

It works. It's cheap, it's fast and it gets the job done. But it communicates exactly that: that it was a job to get done.

An object also tells the story of how it was made

Nobody receiving a gift analyses its supply chain — but they perceive it anyway. They do it in a second and without words: through the weight, the material, the finishing, how it closes, how it smells.

A mass-produced object communicates availability — this existed before you thought of me. A handmade object communicates decision — somebody chose this, and somebody made it.

That difference isn't aesthetic. It's information about you.

What your gift says about your company

Here's the uncomfortable part: the gift is one of the very few pieces of your brand that a client physically takes home. They visit your website, they read your proposal, they file your invoice. The gift they own.

Which is why it works as a statement. A generic gift says “something had to be given and this is what there was”. A handmade gift says “we take details seriously, even this one”.

If your company sells judgement, care, quality or closeness — and nearly every company claims to — a mediocre gift contradicts your own argument, in your client's hand. It's the only piece of your marketing anyone can touch.

Whoever hands it over is on show too

There's one more layer, and it's personal.

When you hand someone a gift, they aren't only judging the company: they're judging you, the person giving it. Handing over something well made is comfortable — you do it gladly. Handing over something generic forces you to add an implicit apology: “it's nothing, but anyway”.

Nobody says “it's nothing” when they're handing over something properly made. For anyone who has to give out fifty gifts looking fifty people in the eye, that counts for quite a lot.

Handmade doesn't mean irregular

It's worth defusing this misunderstanding, because it stops a lot of people: “handmade” sounds informal, uneven, unpredictable.

It's precisely the opposite. In our own workshop every piece passes through hands that check it before it leaves. There's no statistical sampling: there's piece-by-piece quality control, because it's the same people who made it. Handmade means excellence, not informality.

And it means something more practical: it can be adapted. A closed catalogue offers you what it has. A workshop with its own design team starts from your idea.

Producing close to home is also a decision

We work leather in our workshop in Málaga. That means jobs here, a craft that gets preserved, and apprentices learning by stitching small pieces before they ever touch a bag.

It also means fewer miles and less waste: a good share of the small pieces comes from offcuts of excellent leather that would otherwise be thrown away. The unglamorous kind of sustainability — the kind that consists of not wasting good material.

We don't tell you this as a moral argument. We tell you because it's part of a story you can tell yourself when you hand the gift over — and that story is yours, not ours.

When generic is the right answer

In fairness: sometimes it is.

If you need to hand out a thousand units at a trade fair so people leave with your name, a promotional item does the job better and cheaper. It's a visibility tool and it works.

Craft makes sense when the gift is going to a specific person whose relationship matters to you: a key client, your team, someone you're recognising publicly. There you're not competing for visibility. You're competing to be remembered.

How we do it

Leather worked by hand in Málaga, your logo embossed into it — set in, not stamped on — with colour and packaging adapted to your brand. Before anything is produced, we send you a design proof to approve.

And if you imagine something that doesn't exist on the website, that's where we work best: our design team starts from your idea. What you see is only 1% of what we can create.

Frequently asked questions

Is a handmade gift much more expensive?
It costs more per unit because more work goes into it. The sensible way to adjust isn't to lower the quality, but to choose a smaller piece made just as well.

Does “handmade” mean the pieces are irregular?
No. Our own workshop in Málaga, and every piece checked before it leaves. Excellence, not informality.

Can you emboss our logo?
Yes, into the leather, integrated in the piece. With a design proof before production.

Do you handle large volumes?
We work project by project. Tell us how many units you need and we'll tell you frankly whether it's a fit.
